First discovered by Nobel Prize-winning chemist Henri Moissan in 1893, it's composed of silicon carbide and is now expertly created in laboratories to achieve near-perfect purity. It isn't an imitation of anything: it's rarer in nature than diamond, harder than sapphire or ruby, and displays even more fire than a diamond does.

No. Moissanite measures 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale (second only to diamond), so it resists scratching and abrasion for a lifetime of everyday wear. Rhodium is a rare, precious metal from the platinum family. Plating silver or white gold with rhodium gives it a brilliant, mirror-white finish while adding a protective layer that resists tarnish and scratching.
